Aasimar First-Generation

The sands in the distance shifted ever so slightly, but it was enough to immediately cause our resident ranger to be wary. Squinting his eyes, as he looked hard over the landscape, as if searching for something none of us could see. After a few moments of silence, his eyes became wide, his body flinching backwards shortly after, causing him to fall to the ground, before he scrambles, and making no effort to silence himself, screams "RUN!" urgently at the rest of the crew. The rest of us, unsure what to make of the situation, thought it best to follow. I rushed next to him, as he constantly glanced over his shoulder to check to see if they were being followed, immediately a look of true fear on his face. "What are we running from?!" I yelled, unable to ask normally as a result of how fast we were moving. Any response he could've given was immediately rendered mute as a result of the sudden screams that came from behind us. I looked behind us, and even the men behind us were confused, but certainly seemed to run faster afterwards. Suddenly, from behind the one at the back, the sand suddenly burst from the ground, as if a geyser, before a clawed, reptilian hand came out of it, using the falling sand as camouflage, dragging the man into it, a scream being heard before the sand had turned red with his blood, and the man was gone. I felt my own eyes widen, my heart caught up in my throat, as a scream couldn't even come through, as our ranger screamed in my place "AASIMAR!!!" His scream barely finishing before the sand once again explodes, this time from a nearby dune. Bursting out of the sand, a figure I had only seen on the murals of temples, a man I, among many, deemed as a myth. Sobek, roughly translated in the old tongue as 'He who devourers,' was lunging towards me, a crocodilian form, clawed hands covered in blood, faded scars seen beneath its dark green scales, before my vision went black.
