Queen's Park Garden

The Queen's Park Garden was once a shining emerald in the sea of buildings that was Drakkenheim. People could lose themselves in the impeccable landscaping and well maintained decorative gardens and ornate stone and wood work that was the Queen's Park. The most magnificent part was the Queen's Grotto, dedicated to Queen Lenore. The interior was lavishly decorated with carvings of merfolk and nymphs engaging in all sorts of activities, even sporting with humans. Now the Queen's Park is suffused with Deep Haze. What plants will grow here have become overgrown and choke the footpaths and strangle the statuary. Some even move with predatory intelligence.

Purpose / Function

The Queen's Park Garden was a monument to the queens of Drakkenheim, both consorts and rulers.

Alterations

Because the park has not been maintained in fifteen years, and the corrupting effects of the Deep Haze, it has become even more difficult to navigate. Paths are overgrown, trees move, and the Haze is so thick it obscures anything more than sixty feet away.

Architecture

The Queen's Park has a labyrinthine network of footpaths that connect flower beds, statuary, forested groves, fountains, streams and ponds, gazebos, lawns, arches, and rock gardens. The most recent addition was the Queen's Grotto, in honor of the the Queen-consort, Lenore von Kessel. It was constructed mainly of marble. Artists and engineers labored for more than a year to construct this beautiful masterpiece.

Tourism

In its heyday, throngs of visitors would stroll through the gardens and take in the statues and grottos memorializing the queens, past and present, of Drakkenheim. The gardens were open to noble and commoner alike. Thousands have found joy, amazement, and peace within the Queen's Park Garden. Now all that a visitor will find is corruption and death.
