The Commodore of the League of Watchmen
Describe the Rank and responsibilities of someone who's considered ""in charge"" of an organization, religion, or settlement in your world.
The heavy door swung open and you saw someone waiting for you inside, he wore a cloak and a brown tunic belted at the waist. The belt held a knife and sword while the longbow and quiver leaning up in the corner told you that this man didn't only do desk work.
Despite his slightly intimidating introduction, he smiled and said cheerfully, "Hello. Please come and sit down. My name is Louris. I'm the Commodore of the League of Watchmen."
You nod your head in greeting a little nervously. "Hello, sir. I am here wondering what exactly the Commodore of the League of Watchmen does."
Louris nodded, the welcoming smile still in place. "I'm sorry, but I can't tell you much. I simply do most of the paperwork." He frowned at the thought, then continued, "Sometimes I go out on important missions, but the most enjoyable task in my job is making up the training exercises that the Watchmen do at the Assembly. I also have the unpleasant business of transferring apprentices and Watchmen to different teams. It doesn't happen often, but it is very irksome sometimes."
"I can imagine," You say. "Do you ever get into any fights? Not street brawls, but battles and things like that?"
"Oh, of course. Just recently in fact I was fighting in Asteri Castle against some invaders. Lord Algol called himself King of Asteri and, as Watchmen, it was our job to stop him." He leaned back in his chair.
"What other responsibilities do you have? Swearing apprentices in or something?"
"No, the captains of the teams swear the apprentices into the League in the presence of their team. I do the final stuff at the end of their apprenticeship. One of the other unpleasant jobs I have is discharging a Watchman. I had to do that for one captain because he did something quite bad. He wasn't happy and I had to deal with him several years later."
"Hmm, well, it was nice to talk with you, sir." Standing to your feet, you bow slightly before heading towards the door.
"Good day." Louris frowned again as he picked up a paper from one of the many scattered all over his desk. "I'm certainly not going to have one."
