Valaari Desert

The valaari desert is one of the great and deadly basins on the continent of Maangi. Located on the northern part of the landmass. It stood unexplored for centuries until the expedition of Kisuna managed to venture through its entirety to reach the mountains that have long tempted miners and jewelcrafters due to legends that tell about the riches that are supposedly hidden within the massif. Her expedition journal sheds some light on the many secrets of the desert.   "While sparse in terms of flora, this desert offers a surprising, if mostly deadly, variety of fauna of all sizes. From the small scorpions to the towering beetles, the trials of living in the desert has pushed nature to come up with some truly magnificent and simultaniously horrifying creatures.   During our journeys, we came across what we thought was an oasis when said oasis suddenly closed its mouth, dragging our strongest camel and my assistant with it down into the sand. A shame really, I liked the mule.   This wasn't the only time we lost part of the expedition. Days later we came across what looked like boiling sand. We were readying the sleds and tried to cross it but to no avail. While it looked promising, the sled began to sink after roughly 2 minutes before we witnessed two expedition members drown in the quicksand.   The special aspect of this desert however, is that the sand in parts forms waves that crash into you and the mountainrange. Like breaching water, the strong winds keep shifting the geography of this place around all the time. Any map one would create of this place using dunes at landmarks would be useless merely days after its creation. The only navigation option one has are the sharp large rocks that stick out of the ground and the stars."
