The Praetorian Guard

The current Praetorian Guard was founded in 3117 A.U.C. by order of the then Emperor after the clash with the Imperial Security Bureau. It is composed of 1000 members, chosen among the armed forces of the whole Empire, thus including those located in the extraterrestrial colonies. The Guard has a list of candidates that is constantly updated, so that in case of death or resignation of a member of the Guard there is immediately a ready substitute. The symbol is the scorpion, worn at heart level by all members of the Guard. The scorpion color also indicates the specialization of the soldier. The colors are: yellow for the simple soldiers, blue for the raiders and infiltrators, green for the specialists of electronic warfare and the hackers and white for the snipers; there is only one member of the Guard who has the purple scorpion and is the commander. In this regard there is a saying, that is "the scorpion is black" that derives from the habit of the guard to cover the color of the symbol with black paint when they are on a mission outside the imperial palace, and means that the situation is serious. The primary task of the Praetorian Guard is the security of the incumbent Emperor and of the imperial palace, but not of his family, this because of various abuses that occurred with the previous organization of the Guard. However, they often also act as the Emperor's armed wing to solve situations that would take too much time by normal means, and sometimes they are aggregated to the commanders of the legions in situations where the Emperor wants a precise idea of ​​the situation, acting as his eyes and ears. The armament of the guard is standard: a modular enhanced lorica, so that it can be configured in different ways according to need. The standard weapon is the NCL-73 rifle that can be used both single shot and with different modes of automatic fire. In addition to this the pistol is the NCC-87, which takes a lot from the NCL-73 rifle including fire modes. To complete the standard armament there is also a combat dagger. To these armaments are added the MRT-BNC sniper rifle, the BRD52X shotgun and the NLG-76 hand-held machine gun nicknamed "Wall Destroyer" due to the high firepower.

Structure

The Guard is divided in 10 Cohors each composed of 100 soldiers. Each Cohors has 10 snipers, 10 hackers and 20 infiltrators.

Tactics

The Praetorian Guard is specialized in close combat tactics and security assesment, but has training to handle most of the situations that can arise.

Training

All members must be at least NCOs in their original corp. The training is 2 hours a day fro any member who isn't on vacation or in the hospital.

The Pretorian Guard in extreme cases can order every branch of the military to offer support, but it's a power that's rarely used, mostly for political reasons.
