Seat of the imperial secret services, the Arcane Cohort.

The main office of the Arcane Cohort is located in Rome, where it occupies a historic building in the Celio district. Despite the classical architecture of the building dating from the XXXth century, the building is equipped with all the most modern security measures. The building has a brick structure and bronze and obsidian inserts typical of the public architecture of the time, as well as the 4-storey structure above the ground. However, a first glance, for those who know what to look, reveals different details. In fact, many obsidian inserts have been replaced by cameras and sensors, camouflaged so as to still look like the original inserts, as well as the windows, although very large, are reinforced in order to withstand anything below anti-vehicle weapons . Passing the main entrance you will find yourself in the reception, a 40 sqm room with a glass protected counter where there are always 4 secretaries who are in charge of managing the flow of visitors and employees. The main feature of the entrance is a huge mosaic that covers most of the floor, which bears the symbol of the Cohort, an eagle with spread wings, holding a gladius and laurel branch in the claws. On the sides of the symbol are allegorical representations of the provinces of the Empire. In addition to some visible cameras, there are no apparent safety measures. From the reception depart two corridors, behind the counter, as well as four elevators, two on the right and two on the left. The corridors give access to areas that can be visited by the public, which include some administrative offices, a cafeteria and bathrooms. Obviously in none of these areas are important documents, and the agents present are all of low rank. The elevators on the right side both lead to the upper floors, and it is possible to activate them by entering an alphanumeric code identifying the agent. On the upper floors there are offices and meeting rooms, as well as a dining room, kitchens and bathrooms. In addition to the offices of the commander of the Cohort and the non-commissioned officers there is nothing special, however important documents can be found, even if only the senior officers have access to all the documents. The elevators on the right side instead are out of service, or so say the big red holograms that cover the doors. However, it is possible to enter inside, and a biometric control hidden behind the buttons panel allows access to the underground floors. Here are the armory with attached shooting range, warehouses and a small garage that store equipment and vehicles for the agents, as well as the electronic and paper files of the Cohort. In addition to these structures in the last level there are also cells and interrogation rooms. The underground floors are the only ones with a visible and massive surveillance, in fact they are regularly patrolled by agents in enhanced lorica, the combat model for tight spaces.

Purpose / Function

This is the official seat of the Imperial secret services, at least the one known to the public. It serves as a huge target, that covers the other, more sparse locations.

Alterations

In the beginning it was the registry office, but after 70 years it was deemed too periferic. After being abandoned for 20 years it was given to the newly reformed imperial services, that took it and over the years transformed it in a virtual fortress, and a symbol of the "longa manus" of the Empire.

Architecture

The structure is adorned with visibile bricks, bronze and obsidian. This style of achitecture is known as Neo-Mayan and it was fashionable for public structures for some 30 years in the XXXth century, before souring relationships with the Mayan Empire brought this fashion to an halt.
