Publicus Latinus Sermo (Official Latin Language)

The official language of the Roman Empire is Latin, but it is not the language commonly spoken on the streets, but an artificial language, built specifically to perform a representational function. This language was created on the initiative of Consul Cara Cornelia in 2724 A.U.C., who kicked off this initiative realizing that the languages spoken in the Republic had become too different from each other which was beginning to affect communications. This language, based on the Latin of the XIII century A.U.C. was created by a committee of expert linguists in order to be as simple as possible, but at the same time sufficiently flexible to be used not only in official communications, but also as a lingua franca within the Republic in order to allow anyone to learn it and use it. After more than 7 years of work the commission presented its result and, apart from some minor adjustments due to the necessary integration of new terms when new scientific discoveries, objects or substances became known to the public it has remained unchanged until today. The official Latin language is used, in addition to any level of state administration, from imperial proclamations to fines for non-stop, also from all communication channels controlled by the state and has also become the academic language because thanks to its immediacy it makes possible rapid communication of research within the scientific community. Thanks also to the fact that it is taught in all the schools together with the local languages, every imperial citizen is able to understand it, making it also used by tourists who leave their province.
