Dawn Writer Scova

Dawn is one of the most well known journalists in the Idran empire despite having humble beginnings.

Childhood

She was raised in a village called Scova on the outskirts of the Jofi jungle. She was part of a large family as one of the middle children. Her eldest sister was destined to take over as head singer for her village, which suited Dawn fine because she had very little interest in music outside of the simple spells that were taught to her by her family. No, she was more interested in the written word once she learned it from a scholar that was visiting from Oja. The scholar told her tales of that fair city, and she resolved in her heart that she would see it one day.

Early Career

She worked hard as a youth to get her name known among the people of Brana. Before too long she had a regular column in the local newspapers that covered everything from current affairs to domestic concerns. No topic was beneath Dawn, so her proficiency in writing grew by leaps and bounds. One day, an editor from the Oja Times contacted her to ask her to do a piece regarding the recent border skirmishes with the Sondan empire that ruled to the east of Idra. Dawn swallowed her fear and rose to the task marvelously. Her article was cunning and fresh, so she was offered a position as a journalist at the Oja Times. She jumped at the chance and bid her family goodbye almost immediately. Dawn made the long trek to Oja and was stunned by the city when she first encountered it. In her mind, she had never imagined something so splendid and large. She had some difficulty adjusting to big city life, but eventually found her footing and continued to produce superb articles and exposes about life in Idra.

The Voice of Our Times

These days, Dawn is one of the most influential writers within the realm of Idra. Her words have described tragedies and triumphs. She focuses mostly on current events and at times provides such keen commentary that politicians have to change their policies. She has a devoted readership. Her ideas often end up in the center of public discourse. She is known throughout the realm and treasured in Brana where she got her start.
