Siege of Tan'Ayya Military Conflict in Rivendom | World Anvil

Siege of Tan'Ayya

The Siege of Tan'Ayya was a military conflict that took place in the Pāll-tanír, during which the Dominion laid siege to the city of Tan'Ayya to retake it from forces led by Aestrin Qirienos. Though the siege itself took place months later, the incident that sparked the conflict was ultimately the result of a group of adventurers forgetting the name of the caliph of Tan'Ayya.

The Conflict

Prelude

A group of adventurers, Blood on the Dawnflower, Heather Rowling, Hadrea, and Plays for the Stars took it upon themselves to investigate the culprit behind the Stormcaller Crisis with the blessing of Aestrin who was, at the time, acting as the Voice of the Caliph of Tan'Ayya. Their investigation led them to Serpent's Cove, which were the headquarters of the imperialist faction of the Hooded Eye. Shortly thereafter, they discovered the name of the identity that the Stormcaller was masquerading as but failed to grasp exactly who that person was.   Eager to get the matter resolved as quickly as possible, they returned to Tan'Ayya and promptly sought an audience with the caliph. When asked for the name of the Stormcaller, they provided it despite Aestrin's attempts to dissuade them. It was not until the caliph shed his human form, revealing that he was the Stormcaller that the party realized that the name with which the caliph had been introduced to them but once before was one and the same as the name that they had uncovered.   The fight that followed was brutal. Now that he had an excuse to turn on the Stormcaller, Aestrin did so, having already accomplished what he wanted by exploiting the Stormcaller's arrogance. The three-way fight eventually led to the death by disintegration of Dawn, the petrification of Stars and Hadrea, and the surrender of Heather. Once the Stormcaller was out of the way, Aestrin and his faction were able to seize control of Tan'Ayya due to the chaos that was transpiring all over the continent.
