Hiraja ar'Silam

Phantom Clerk Hiraja Silam

Hiraja ar'Silam is a merchant and a native of the Sharan Peninsula. Originally from the city of Salaq, he has come to the city of Qesrir under the pretense of expanding his business to the west. His true purpose, however, and something of an open secret among the inhabitants of Qesrir, is to establish a foothold for the Black Fang in the western side of the Sharan Peninsula.

Personal history

Not much is known about Hiraja's childhood, only that he was inducted into the Hooded Eye at a very young age having hailed from one of the smaller villages on the eastern flank of the Sharan Peninsula. Shortly thereafter, he began to climb the ranks of the organization and caught the eye of Narif ar'Amyad, regional commander of the Hooded Eye in the Sharan Peninsula.   As a prodigy from a young age, Hiraja displayed remarkable acumen as both a businessman and an inventor. After his skill helped his local chapter of the hooded eye turn record-high profits, he received personal orders from Narif himself to the regional headquarters at Salaq. There, he proved his worth by finding a way to make use of the fatty, waste-fish nifrak to turn a profit and make the fishing industry more efficient overall. As a result, he was handed the reins of the Hooded Eye's portion of the Abaz industry, overseeing two of the three major workhouses that produced abaz handicrafts in the city.   Though he was aware of the internal strife in the Hooded Eye, Hiraja devoted his attention to the business side of things, refusing to touch the illicit side of the Hooded Eye's business and its factional politics. He only became involved when it became clear that the brewing civil war was threatening his side of the Hooded Eye's legitimate dealings. He showed little sympathy for Narif's imperialist leanings and actively worked against them to preserve stability. His efforts were ultimately for naught as the imperialist faction collapsed before he could oust Narif and the backlash, combined with the ignition of the Stormcaller Crisis, shattered the control of the regional chapter of the Hooded Eye.   Not everything was unfavorable for Hiraja, however. He took his closest followers underground to ride out the storm. Narif was killed in the purge, but the dramatic shift in the Hooded Eye's priorities following the election of Issad Harman to the inner council meant that the Sharan Peninsula fell by the wayside, leaving space for someone else to take the reins. After resurfacing in Salaq and reestablishing control over his workshops, he set about to piecing together the remnants of the Hooded Eye into a new organization, the Black Fang, taking care to purge any members of the previous imperialist faction so that the Hooded Eye would have no excuse to come after him.   Having always preferred to run things from the shadows, Hiraja gave control of the Black Fang over to his most trusted subordinate: Silad ar'Adala to give himself more time to focus on growing the Black Fang through business without having to deal with the members on a day-to-day basis.
