Norrel Highdale

Brief History

Been a sailor for most of his life. Parents had a small shipping business, Norrel worked these ships from a young age with his father, and became an excellent sailor. After the last Rising his parents business collapsed, and they fled to Cliffport. He signed up with the Imperial Society of Exploration and Cartography as soon as they began hiring and when Captain Brolwaen Throllan first mate died at sea, she chose Norrel as her new first mate. He has held this position for the last six years.

Appearance

Human male in his early forties. Dark tanned skin and piercing blue eyes. He wears his greying hair pulled back in a short pony tail, tied with a leather thong. He has a long beard which he also ties with leather thongs. He is a tall man, with broad shoulders and is well muscled from a life at sea. He wears simple baggy breeches, tied at the waist with a colourful sash, and a loose cotton shirt with a leather vest over the top.

Personality and Traits

Norrel is lot more serious than his captain, though isn't dour by any means. He takes a great deal of pride in his job and the ship, and works to produce a similar feeling amongst the crew. He is always willing to listen to the crew concerns but has no time for petty grumbling, and little patience for those who complain about everything and nips crew disagreements in the bud whenever he sees them rising. He is a very good judge of character.
