Corvid
Corvid, Harbinger of Death
Corvid, the avatar of the god of death chases down all avatars of Chronica the goddess of time. She has broken the law of nature by unnaturally extending the time of her subjects in an experiment to create a new world order.
Corvid was a cursed child. He killed his mother in birth, and his father died of a broken heart and alcohol 5 years after abusing the boy. He lived in the outskirts of his small fort town as a mining slave after losing his only caretakers, until a plague took over the town. By this time he had become well accostumed to death, and took on the plague well, accepting his fate. However death never came for him, and he was the only survivor of the quarantined city.
Corvid became an avatar of death after the god approached him, a starving child on the brink. The young boy seemingly able to move on after witnessing mass death, with a strange acceptance. He proceeded to make use of the obedient boy, giving him a purpose, to hunt down the avatars of time.
Corvid did his duty diligently, and very effectively. He had a genius brain which allowed him to narrow down those who abused time and death, and he never allowed a single one to escape. His deductive reasoning and observant nature allowed him to pick up on social cues and human nature, regardless of how antisocial he was.
His work caught up to him however. An avatar of time was deliberately used by the goddess Chronica to lure Corvid in, unbeknownst to the avatar or Corvid. As he took the life of the avatar, the goddess revealed herself, and using the dying lifeforce of her fallen avatar, branded her symbol onto the him, bestowing him with the gift, and curse of biological immortality.
Upon seeing the abomination that had been created by Chronica, the god of death disowned Corvid. Not for his failure in his duties, for he had performed them outstandingly. But death itself had succumbed to the eternal power of time. Thinking it futile to spend all these years fighting a meaningless war.
Stuck in an abominable cursed immortal body, and disowned by his only worthy master, Corvid lives a life of despair, loneliness and contempt. But driven by his master's will, he will not take his own life, for he still believes in his duty.
