Order of the Obsidian Rose

Crystal harvesting is a dangerous job and only the best survive to make a long career out of it. The best of these crystal harvesters are recognized by their peers as "Briliant."

Membership in the Order of the Obsidian Rose is the most prestigious award given to an exceptional crystal harvester. While primarily an honorary title, the respect and recognition afforded by those inducted into the order provides a definite an advantage in their interactions within Shimmerfell.
Every three years, the Crystal Cutter's Guild hosts a major celebration, the Crystal Fair. During this occasion, fallen members are remembered, new members are inducted, and a select few are awarded with coveted membership into the Order of the Obsidian Rose. The most recent inductee is Lexa Brada, becoming one of the youngest Brilliants in Shimmerfell.
Past Brilliants often parlay their influence into guild positions or city governance. In fact, the current Shederaga is himself a Brilliant.

Requirements

To be considered for membership in the order, the candidate must have led their own harvesting crew for at least 20 years, and typically has over 40 years of experience in the field. They must have a reputation for treating their crew fairly and safely, while providing the highest quality Blight Crystal to the Shimmerfell markets. Further, membership is not possible unless the individual has been responsible for the collection of rare black crystal.
