saatog-Vaitugasa
The people of Daohki celebrate their connection to the ocean, which provides many of the resources for aiia-Daohki and the vai-Samaoufaimall people. During the tumultuous storms, it is dangerous to venture into the ocean. Food supplies tend to dwindle, as the steady supply of fish cannot be replenished.
When Osupa returns from the southern sky, the ocean is calmest. Under the guidance of the moon's light and in the waveless water, the vai-Samaoufaimall return to sea. While most take small boats out to float on the water, the main expedition of saatog-Vaitugasa is the communities largest boat. A large crew, as many as 20-30 people, sail the boat to the deeper water a few miles from shore.
From the depths, jellyfish appear. Only present when the ocean is calm, they dot the surface of the water. Their gentle blue bioluminescence lights up the surface of the water, competing with the reflection of Osupa. The ships scoop up the jellyfish, carefully storing them for transport back to shore. They return in the early light of the morning where they had the jellyfish off to the next step.
The jellyfish must be carefully handled and prepared to avoid the toxins in their tentacles. Particularly the bell are enjoyed for their taste and texture. In the late afternoon, the jellyfish are served, a perhaps worthwhile reward for the struggles of the previous weeks, filled with storms and floods.
