Randal Evenwood

Hey! I just wanna talk.
~ Randal to some cultists
Randal Evenwood is a legendary hero of Rexweld. He is a human man who was born in Malesuray, he grew up as a normal knight and then set off to travel. He was closely linked to the Fey and the Spring Court.

Early Life

Randal, as a citizen of Malesuray, grew up in a normal family, not especially rich and yet not exactly poor either. He, like many other kids was sent to train to become a knight. He proved to be above average as a combatant, joining the Knight Academy fairly easily. There he met Julian, who'd soon become his best friend and rival. In the Academy Randal also realized that he had a stronger than for most bond with sacred oaths as he soon specifically began studying as a paladin. Both he and Julian grew in the ranks quite quickly. Julian thanks to being an amazing fighter, Randal thanks to both being a good fighter and having divine abilities as a paladin.

Fey Massacre

When Randal had been working as a knight for a while now, it was declared that the knights and soldiers of Malesuray would go and expand the territory of Malesuray by going into the northern forest which happened to be the Fey Woods and to chop down a vast amount of trees so towns could be built there. The Knights killed many innocent Fey creatures which lived in the forest. Randal was one of these Knights, he in fact was one of the most well known of these Knights as he killed some of the strongest creatures. He does was not happy with this fact. He hated having to kill the fey creatures and he soon after fell into a horrible drunken state, declining any missions that were given to him, instead, choosing to stay at home and drink more.

Bane

On one of the nights when Randal actually chose to go out, albeit it was only to get more alcohol since he had run out, he took a shortcut towards his house, which meant going through some not-as-safe alleys. He was taken by some cultists of Bane who recognized him and attempted to convert him to follow Bane. This was a fairly easy task since he was drunk and they just had to fill his ears with what he wanted to hear. And so, during this period Randal's oath and power was connected to the dark diety Bane. This lasted for the next few months until Randal rejected the god although the god still lingered with Randal, sometimes making his foes more powerful in spite.

Beginning of Travels

With Julian's help, Randal was pulled out of his horrible state. This was done by Julian asking Randal to accompany him on a few missions. After the missions, the two split up and Randal had in-a-way regained his life, as he
didn't feel the need to drink as much anymore. He travelled by himself, starting out, travelling through the many Malesuray towns and villages, one of which was Myrehall, where he met the wizard Chariz and later met his dragon Shar. Near Myrehall, he helped a group of Kobolds create their very own village. This was done with the help of the Myrehall citizens who brought the kobolds materials, taught them in various fields like hunting, cooking and alchemy, and so on. Randal put a kobold named Tolkenen as the leader of the village. A bit later, Randal met a pink fey frog which had been following him for a while. It requested Randal to come to the Feywild.

Fey Paladin

Randal accepted the strange frog's request and entered the Feywild, arriving at the Spring Court, where he was given a chance to relinquish and absolve him of his atrocities which he'd committed against the Fey in the Fey Massacre. He was to be trialled. In the trial, he had to spend almost a year in a corrupted part of the Feywild called the Dark Lands where he had to eliminate 87 individuals who lived and ruled in the Dark Lands. The individuals were all types of monsters and murderous humanoids and fey creatures like Redcaps, Shadarkai and others. In the trial his dragon - Shar was killed, but Randal met with a shadarkai shaman in the darklands who revived the dragon, making it into a Molten Wyvern dragon. When Randal completed the trial he was made an official fey, adding some fey abilities to Randal. He also received a legendary armour called the Trinity Armour. His Paladin powers and oath also got linked to the fey.

The Drowsy Traveler

When Randal returned to his home plane after this, he had discovered that 8 or so years had passed on the Material plane, meaning he had missed a lot. Randal had received a letter from Julian asking for Randal to head up the Dragon Mountain for whatever odd reason. While still being at Myrehall Randal met up with a merchant, who he had met before going to the Feywild. Randal discovered the man to have become a drunk, due to his shop having shut down. Randal helped the man named Wilburd sober up and asked him to join the new merchant group he'd be creating - The Drowsy Traveler. The former merchant agreed, becoming a merchant once more. The two bought a prototype wagon which was meant for war, and in the evening, before leaving, Randal put up a poster, looking for any children who'd wish to travel with him and learn from him. In the morning, what had shown up were two adults - an elven sorceress - Felicia and a Minotaur warrior who never took off his helmet - Grug. Randal made a quick trip towards where the Kobold Town that he had placed Tolkenen in charge of would have been but he saw that it had all overgrown and that there were no creatures living there anymore.
The group ventured through the Fey Woods, up north of Myrehall and Malesuray, to get to the Dragon Mountain. They did successfully arrive, although there were some altercations. A Fire Giant attacked the group, but was defeated and later on, as the group were having a rest, a deep gnome appeared from the ground, followed by two Duergar mercenaries. It had turned out the Gnome had stolen a precious gem and the Duergar were sent on a mission to retrieve it. An escape was attempted by the Gnome but when she had realized she had been cornered she threw the gem against the ground summoning a chained angel, which the group fought and defeated. Randal asked the 3 individuals to throw away their differences, and invited them to join his group. The gnome escaped but the Duergar - Gunther and Billion accepted the invite as both had wanted to travel the overworld for a long time. The group went further up the mountain and finally arrived at Trinity City, where Randal met up with his old kobold friend Tolkenen. Tolkenen described to Randal how the kobolds had been getting attacked by humans and other beasts too frequently and that they had to abandon their village, which they did, coming to Trinity City, where they knew other Kobolds lived. Randal asked Tolkenen to join his, at the time, unofficial merchant group. The Kobold accepted the invite. During one of the nights that Randal had been sleeping in Trinity City, he had an Aarakocra assassin attempt to kill him. Randal stopped the intruder, restraining him and asking why he had attempted the assassination. The Aarakocra reluctantly revealed his hatred for humans due to a group of them having killed his entire family. Randal consulted him and at the end of the conversation, Harp, the Aarakocra, had calmed down. Randal invited him to join the Drowsy Traveler, and he agreed. Randal went to a mail office in the city where he had gotten a letter from Julian, which told of Julian's choice to go out and travel. He also left behind a map with points he'd be visiting for Randal to follow.
When the group were heading down the mountain, Ravoroth Clan soldiers stopped the caravan and chose to see what they were transporting. Without an argument or any bad incident, they were let go. The group then continued, splitting up into two groups. Randal's group would follow a point on Julian's map which led back into the Fey Woods to a temple, while the other group would go to the next city which was marked on the map. In the forest, Randal came across the temple which he learnt was Madam Zuzumei's Sanctuary. He met Madam Zuzumei and the rest of the members of the temple.
