King of New Tezz

The king or queen of New Tezz is the ruler of the New Tezz Kingdom. The current King is Xug.

Qualifications

Absolutely technically any person can become King although realistically and practically it has to be an individual with power, allies and a large following and someone who has the minimum love of the people to not get overthrown although if strong enough, that doesn't have to be the case.

Appointment

Depending on the way the ruler gained their title, there may or may not be a ritual. If a former ruler retired and either chose the new one or a new one was elected, there may be a ceremony in which the previous ruler hands over his power.

Duties

A king is to serve his people justly and to do what is best for the Kingdom's present and future. Although the king in New Tezz is above the law, they must be careful to not attain the hate and distrust of his people by being too greedy, too tyrannical, too unjust or even too weak.

Benefits

The King of New Tezz is above the law and depending on the ruler their benefits may vary although what most kings can do is allow new laws to be passed, choose to sentence individuals to prison, torture or death, change taxes of the people, appoint individuals with jobs, create new holidays and a series of other changes they can make. As per more material possessions, a king or queen is given the Kingrock Castle to live in, which comes with inheriting the art, relics, arcane items and other former possessions of the previous rulers.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The most significant item that has stayed as an item that still gets passed down is the Moonstone Necklace , which is a magical necklace, rumoured to have been taken from the Red Sea. It allows the wearer to transform into a large bear and rulers such as Gylman the Untamed used the necklace's power extensively.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

A king or queen may be overthrown by an individual with a following or may be asked to leave their position by their people perhaps revolting. They can also choose to retire or be blackmailed into retiring.

Notable Holders

Gylman the Untamed was one of the more famous Kings as he had a very big personality and his actions were also impressive. One of the most notable things about him though was his extensive use of the Moonstone Necklace as he'd go into battle as a bear almost every time.
