The Perilous Peaks

The Perilous Peaks are a mountain range running along the western edge of Revilo. Many species live in both the lush tree-covered mountaintops and the intricate cavern systems underneath. Due to the vast area the Perilous Peaks cover, there are many diverse societies claiming control of specific areas. Small settlements, not usually welcoming to strangers, are speckled throughout the mountainside. Endless clashes and battles stem from these ownership proclamations, as each group fights to gain more of this bountiful landscape. At any given time there will be numerous feuds both above and below the surface.
The plump and juicy aanakal and plonk fruits grown on the trees of the Perilous Peaks are among the most delicious and sought after in all of Revilo. Varieties of the crops and even their flavors change with the latitude of the continent. The further south in the range where aanakals or plonks are harvested, the sweeter the taste and the higher the price. As the Perilous Peaks work their way towards the southern tail, and closer to the Badlands, the species inhabiting them become more ferocious and less accommodating to strangers.
The caverns and tunnels underneath the mountains also become far more treacherous the further south one travels. Inside these southern mountains the most prized resource is the hide of a Horvath. About the size of a large hare, the colorful tufted skin of these animals will fetch a good price. When many of the same color are captured they will earn an even larger bounty. Those hunting the peaceful Horvaths must steer clear of the violent and nomadic Greyskrulls, from the Badlands, who are claiming more of the caverns as their own with each passing day.
