Nutnut

The Nutnut.   A common fruit found in often random locations around the continent, but known to be very unique to only the Rethium continent. Valued for it's taste, but also a strange ability not shared by any other food-related items.   The Nutnut is a small, cylindrical yellow fruit that is commonly found in piles of up to three or four, and grow via stems that are attached to the Nutnut bush, which can grow in supposedly any environment, yet possesses a ten-in-one-thousand chance or more of sprouting in populated gardens and other growing fields. No-one knows the origin of the Nutnut, but it is thought that a randomly-cast spell from an unknown mage had created the magic that forms and grows the Nutnut.   It's growth process and the length of this process vary depending on the region in which it is found, which makes the fruit hard to grow properly and even to study to a full extent by scientists.   The fascinating ability of the Nutnut is that if one pulls on the small ring-shaped sprout at the top of the plant, a noise will begin to eminate from the fruit, after which, following a period of about fifteen to thirty seconds, the Nutnut will explode violently and spread shrapnel-like material in a wide radius around the site of the explosion. When exploding, the Nutnut possesses a ten-in-thirty chance of causing a sound to carry through the air following the explosion. This sound is similar to the word "NUT!!" being shouted at extremely high volume, to be heard for around five to six yards of distance in all directions around the explosion.    To properly ingest the Nutnut, it must be eaten from the bottom up rather than top down, as eating it the latter way will cause the priming of the Nutnut to occur and causing damage or death to the person and the party they may be travelling with. Eating the Nutnut from the bottom up increases the chances tenfold of the fruit being deactivated and therefore destroying the mechanism of the explosion from the heart and on up to the stem which primes it when it is pulled.
