Circle of The White Tree

although this coven may sound peaceful and inviting at first glance, the image behind the glass is far from a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
The Circle of The White Tree is a deep and dark gathering.
Comprised of those who are worshippers of the same Eldritch darkness as those who own the text concerning the words and thoughts of Cnudhre - falsified of course by those who claim to have known the deity - this religious circle concerns themselves with the worship of a great white tree that had been growing for hundreds of years in a location previously believed to be inhospitable to plant life throughout the years.
The Circle of The White Tree believe that this tree is representative of one of the Eldritch beings who had existed before the moment of creation. This being is rumored to be a shapeless mass of endless tentacle-esque appendages of an unknown or indescribable size, who's reach is endless across the universe even as it continues to expand farther and farther. The tree which resides as the focal point of the group's worship is not believed to represent of the reach of his mass and the tentacles, but in fact is believed to represent the reach of his mind and thoughts, the origin of their true power and control over the expanding universe and the aspects of creation that fuel that expansion. Some do argue that the tree is representative of his massive, immeasurable form and the horror that it represents.
The tree is approximately one-thousand years old according to dendrologists and other scientific fields of earthly studies, but it could be far older as the dating technique used at the time of the first recording was not nearly as accurate as those employed in modern times. This tree is made up of a firm white bark which appears to shine during the night, giving off a dim silvery glow to provide a light source to any creatures seeking shelter from predators or dangerous weather conditions. The Circle explains this glow as the energy from the being's mind flowing through it, acting as the physical form that his mind and soul took after being banished from the darkness before the moments of creation. In a bid to escape the void into which it would have fallen, it allowed it's mind to be transferred through the universe, studying various objects and constructs along the way to a then-unknown destination before finally taking the form of a massive white tree with long, tangled and knotted branches, barely teeming with any lifeforce despite becoming connected to the planet and it's life-giving energy after landing and planting itself in the ground.
To this end, some believe that the tree is in fact alive, if sleeping in a deep, uninterruptable state until some unknown call or signal is given that will wake the sleeping Eldritch horror from it's physical tomb. It is the task of The Circle and their singular leader to continuously pray and worship and ritualize and sacrifice until the right summons have finally been completed. Those who belong to The Circle are confident that this deity will bring about a new and peaceful, prosperous age to the world, and are selflessly devoted to the worship of the deity and their tree-shaped form until the end of time, all the while hoping to bring others to the same faith.
But as time passed, many who had previously been devoted to the order began to leave in the hope that they can be saved by the outside world and the polytheistic religion which worships the true gods of Rethium. The numbers previously existed within the hundreds and even to the thousands possibly, but over time they dropped to only a few hundred or so, to their lowest congregations of only several dozen scattered throughout the continent and hidden churches and other religious constructs. By the time modern history had taken over, it is believed that The Circle had been disbanded completely, but none could be sure of this fact without searching out the remains of The Circle or even those that they believed to be members of the ancient and possibly long-lost cult.
The founder of The Circle of The White Tree was a Vibri woman named Oothye, who took the title of Supreme Mother Prophet Oothye, Voice of The Tree of The Eldritch after having founded the great cult. Her age is unknown, but she claims to be of a pure and whole connection to the unknown Eldritch being.
