Ornithian Inner City Guard

The Ornithian Inner City Guard are largely responsible for keeping the peace in the inner city of Ornitha and keeping the lower castes of the population out of the more affluent neighborhoods and firmly regulated to the slums of the lower districts. The armor is cast of the finest iron plate and polished to shine like gold. It is said in the poorer districts that the three major qualifications for the Inner Guard is to have the physique of an ox, the blood of a giant, and a penchant for violence. Many former soldiers of both the Ornithian army retire into the ranks of the Inner Guard.
The Inner Guard takes seniority over the [City Watch] that oversee the poorer and more populated districts and often are taken into commission by high ranking families and socialites for security through the rougher parts of the city. Some Inner Guards and infrequently seen roaming the markets in the lower districts; however at every corner and street where the outer city meets the interior, there stand the Inner Guard to ensure none proceed unless by invitation.
The organization is relatively autonomous, and the lines between the laws of he Ornithian Empire and mandates of the Church of the One True God are often left up to the decision of the Guardsman. They have the power to enact justice as they see fit there on the street, or to arrest a criminal and convict them of their punishment without oversight. Infamously known for casual bouts of violence in the poorer districts.
