Nicholas Thompson
Nicholas is an Ornithian politician with considerable influence in the The Ornithian Empire, who makes it incredibly difficult not to like him. The man is polite, charming, quick with a smile and quip. He makes weekly appearances at the Temple of Diavna and is always publibly giving away wealth to the poor. He has made several arguments for the conditions of the slums in the lower districts of the city and is largely seen as a public figure who has the support of the people. Most middle and all lower class citizens of the city never bother with politics because none of their conditions ever change as a result of their action. However some of the arguments and speeches by Thomas have started to gain the interest in more and more of the populous.
There are surprisingly few people who who know Thomas personally. For such a high ranking socialite he atypically leads a more private life. Those few who do know him, know that there is a deeper, more personal, meaning when he says, "we're all just actions on the world stage". Among the inner circles of politicians in the capital building there are whispers of the mask he wears in public, and the ugly face he hides underneath. With growing support from the masses and the ear of ignorant but influential politicians, Thomas has begun to move his pieces to achieve some unknown objective. The emperor unfortunately loves the man and constantly sings his praises for how he cares for the common people. Snuck in between the suggestions for improving the slums are other suggestions for geopolitics and religious laws that have nothing to do with poverty or the people of Ornitha.
