Kael the Bloody

His Grace Kael

For the past twenty years Kael has led the Church of the One True God. Since his occupancy of the Holy Seat, he has earned himself the nickname of Kael "the bloody" in the streets of Ornitha for his increasing demands of human sacrifice for Diavna, and for the ruthless behavior he shows the conquered enemies of the Church.
Kael was instrumental in bringing the Kellium Empire crumbling to the ground in coordination with Ornithian Emperor. The last King of Kells died unexpectedly without an heir. His brother and family's loss at sea en route to Kells further complicated matters considerably. Now three tribes declared a legitimate claim to the throne. It was then that Kael approached the Kellium high priests and offered aid in staving off a civil war among the rivaling tribes. Rather than risk the ruin of Kellumlund, the high priests agreed to nominate Kael as a third party negotiator, if only the tribal leaders also acquiesced, and the procedure was overeen by members of the Gremeliam and Artwinian nations as well as an orange robed Wizard of Azhmar to bear witness. Kael agreed.
The high Kellium priests and tribesmen met with representatives from the Artwin and Gremeliam Empires at a temple in Kells, where they waited for Kael and the wizard to arrive. Instead, they were greeted with a Bishop of Diavna accompanied by two troops of crossbowmen. The Bishop marked the Kellium as heretics and blasphemers of a false god and executed them in their temple. Kael quickly orchestrated a coup of the city by use of a single division of the Holy Army. Kael declared Kellumlund for the Church of the One True God, while the Ornithian Emperor seized control of the city and the surrounding area.

Personal history

Kael rose quickly through the ranks of the church and became the youngest member of the Counsel of the High Chaplains in the church's history at the age of 37. By the time Kael assumed the Holy Seat, at the passing of Jaco the Patient, he was 41 years old; the shortest term served as High Chaplain before ascending the Seat.
