Contract of Work

A written contract between employers and their workers. Typically co-signed by an authorized member of the Artwinian or Ornithian empires. A contract of work states that the servant must work without pay until the contractual obligations are fulfilled. Indenturees usually enter into such an agreement for a sum of money, or transportation to another area. The debtor may incur additional time and or money as the contract is fulfill; additional the document may also be sold to third parties. A gray market slave trade has flourished in sapient regions where indentured servitude is common, and forgeries are not unheard of.   The fulfillment of labor may encompass any variety of work from manual labor intensive tasks to sex work. In most cases, the terms of the agreement in relation to work and period of time, along with any possible additional fees, are noted prior to the indentured servants signature. There exists a system of complaint for the indentured servant for when an owner is not honoring the terms of the agreement. However in name only does it ever serve to see complainants achieve their demands, and the backlash for a servant attempting such a maneuver typically involves punishment of some kind from the owner for causing such disrespect.   This contract is typically between individuals and other individuals and organizations; not to be confused with a Contract of Debt to the Atwinian Empire.
