Váli

"With his vengeance completed, there was nothing left holding him together. He became a danger to all the remaining gods... thus he was locked away" -excerpt from Tales of the Gods, Vol. 2

The Fallen Avenger

Váli is a son of Odhinn, and god of Silence and Vengeance, he was conceived for the sole purpose of avenging Baldur's death at the hands of Hothr. Váli succeeded in avenging his brother, by killing his other brother, Hothr, who had loosed the arrow that slew Baldur. After he had avenged his family, he fought alongside his father, other brothers, and the rest of the gods during the Great Cataclysm. However, when the remainder of his family fell in the battle, he was one of the few gods to survive.

Unable to follow his primary purpose, Váli slowly descended into madness. Though his mind was broken, he still wielded immense power, and he became a danger to all the cosmos. When Baldur and Hothr were released from Helheim, Baldur saw what a danger his youngest brother had become, and he resolved to bind him so that he may not further harm the already broken realms. He was imprisoned somewhere on Midgard.

Though Váli is no longer regarded as a member of the Remnants, some still worship him in secret and send him their whispered prayers. Váli's devoted commonly pray for bloody vengeance on those who have done wrong, or purely to embrace the madness of an insane god.

In his avatar and religious artworks, Váli is portrayed as a thin man, draped in crimson cloth and chain mail. His face is entirely obscured, fully bound up in that same crimson cloth, and he is always shown carrying a long sword that perpetually drips blood.

Tenets of Faith

Seek Vengeance and you will find Vali waiting.

Seekers of Vengeance will always find Váli's bloody blessing in the edge of a blade or the tip of an arrow.

Let hatred drive you.

Hold tight to your Hate, let it drive your forth and deliver you to your Vengeance. Hatred is the most potent motivation, it grants us unwavering vision, and the desire to pursue our goals to their bloody completion.

Never forget, never forgive.

Forgiveness is a farce. Those who wrong you must be punished, or they are bound to do it again. Never allow anyone to wrong you and get away with it, punishment should be swift, decisive, and merciless.

To escape from his prison, and take vengeance on his brothers for casting him away.
