Ember Guards

Truth by fire

When the sun slinks below the horizon, the only light in our city is the Fire Of Truth. And it is quite a beautiful fire indeed.
The Ember Guards are a specialty army company with but one goal: to maintain the Fire Of Truth, and, in extension, protect the lives of all residents of the Island. They also have an extended scientific branch to research the properties of newly-acquired magic and attempt to replicate spells.

Structure

Five full rooms of people, all of them brightly lit. A dozen computers and scores of pens: writing, forging, remembering. A chapter member sits on the roof of the Cinder Tower, reading his tale to the Fire Of Truth. It is pleased, and brightens, a bulwark against the enemy forces.
The organization is headed by the Chapter Leader, who is the highest rank in the Ember Guards. Nominally, the commander of the Combined Forces, ElementalShrike, outranks him, but in reality there is little interference with the Chapter Leader's operations.   Directly beneath the Chapter Leader is the Chapter Chaplain. Much like a Chief Happiness Officer meshed with a quartermaster, the Chaplain keeps the morale of all Ember Guard members up, while also supplying the troops with needed equipment.   The rank and file members of the Ember Guard are the Chapter Members. These people are the ones that build the worlds, that read the stories, that study the magics and, by doing so, glimpse a new dimension of reality. They are the bringers of hope: they are the forgers of worlds.

Public Agenda

When the Gods gave us the Fire, it was a gamble. They had decided to shatter reality as a whole to benefit humanity. It's now our duty to use this gift, and stay one step ahead of our enemies.
— ElementalShrike
The public agenda of the Ember Guards is very specific. Due to them being an unconventional unit, they follow different rules than the main Combined Forces Command. In order of precedence, they attempt to accomplish the following:
  1. Sustain the Fire of Truth through the building of worlds,
  2. Extend human sphere of influence through the Fire,
  3. Understand the Fire's inner workings,
  4. Replicate the magic of the Fire, and
  5. Research other magics.

History

We were founded during the 9th year after the Kamzhik invasion... we entered official operation during the 10th. Today marks the third anniversary of our service.
— ElementalShrike
The Ember Guards have had a short but eventful history. After the initial alien invasion, biological warfare, and orbital bombardment, several resistance zones remained with substantial populations of humans. One of the most notable was New Zealand, from which the Ember Guards originated.   Designated Resistance Zone New Zealand by the allied fighting forces, New Zealand was beset by a plethora of advanced alien unmanned warfare vehicles, which landed at Wellington in the second year of the invasion. After the establishment of a beachhead, forces swept north to Auckland and south to Christchurch, leaving a trail of uncontested victory.   Just when all hope seemed to be lost, and the survivors numbered in the tens of thousands, Major General Clara Lupei gbe struck a decisive victory at the Battle of Milford Sound in the fourth year of invasion. After figuring out how to hijack alien operating systems, she sent her newly-captured vehicles against the aliens, achieving a temporary reversal of alien victories.   The Mobile Hijacking Unit of the Combined Forces Command (CFC-MHU) in the ninth year of invasion discovered the Fire Of Truth in the crypt of the Cinder Tower. After determining its useful properties, some MHU members were drawn to be the interim Ember Guards.   The Ember Guards have succeeded in being able to replicate the Fire of Truth a total of twenty times and have sustained such fires for three years. They have built world after world to feed the fires. Soon, WorldEmber will be nearing. The forges will, once again, be lit in defense of humanity.

Now that's what I call going all out on the formatting and lorecraft, Shrike xD   Well done! There is little to critique, so I'll admire instead. Your badge design is absolutely beautiful <3   One thing I should note though: I am not seeing a lot of link tooltips. I hope you haven't been slacking on your excerpts :P

Looks nice! I wouldn't mind joining it, although for me it being all year may not be for me. I do presume this is sort of a meta-verse in terms of what the world is going for, seeing things for the Discord server and all not. I would say for the sidebar though that you may better find a synonym for "size" for the company, since you seem to repeat it twice which may be confusing for some readers.   Curiously though, what is the Fire of Truth? Why do people want to protect it or feed worlds to it?

So, the thing for this is, you can participate in it if you want, generally it is there for support of those that are willing to join. This is a fan-world for the chapter, and therefore I felt that an informational sidebar on what the chapter is about would be necessary. Very basically, in this world: aliens invaded the earth, and the Fire of Truth is magic gifted by the gods to help protect earth humans from the aliens. It is sustained by the building of worlds, which is why the Fire must be read to like a child being read bedtime stories.

First things first the formatting is very nice. Certainly meets high standard. Secondly I can certainly see such an organization existing, though personally I would not join myself. I tend to be a bit paranoid about such things.   As others have pointed out I would recommend links to other articles. The narrative is compelling though, and it suits pull you in without getting to Hung up on little details. What sort of people tend to join this organization? Who do they aim to recruit?

There are two organizations, one for my chapter fan-world, and one that exists irl on discord as a sort of worldbuilding support group. As for the first and second groups, they would recruit people who are willing to build worlds, support others building worlds, and who want to be supported in their worldbuilding endeavors.   One last thing: you posted three of the same comment, would you mind if I deleted the other two?
