Personal history
Banje was raised in the Conservatory of the Academy of the City of the Sea in Halad Rald-Ban (northeast) for all three disciplines: orchestra, choir, and theory/composition. It wasn't an easy education. Sea monsters attacked incessantly, and a great deal of work was expected from the students. Incapable of magic, Banje was often at a disadvantage, but he pursued his studies with passion and infallible optimism. Every student was told that their ultimate goal was to play, sing, or write for a noble court in foreign, plentiful lands, and Banje made this his dream.
When he reached adulthood and set out to find nobility to apply to, he went straight to the top, figuring he could get that rejection out of the way and work his way down from there. Surprisingly, however, King Mazion Crown accepted Banje to work for his court...which, as it later turned out, had no orchestra or choir or really anything other than a big, empty castle with a lot of gold and not a lot of workers or people.
It seemed no land was truly plentiful after the Deepening. But that didn't stop Banje. He was well and truly nobility now, even if that still meant dealing with water rations, even if it meant being bossed around by the king to babysit the unruly prince or battle the weeds of the royal gardens--it meant doing so with grace and dignity and poise.
Still composing in spite of the lack of an orchestra, still optimistic in the face of a dying world, still determined and enthusiastic as ever, Trill has become rather fond of his job watching over Jules Crown. There have been some bumps in the road, but all in all, the adventure has been one he wouldn't trade for anything. With Mazion so distant, his mother dead, and his older sisters sent away, Jules needs someone to care not just about him but for him...
