Halfling
Basic Information
Anatomy
Halflings are warm-blooded, bipedal vertebrates. The Halfling body consists of two arms, two legs, the torso, the neck, and the head. Some halflings bear an additional appendage in the form of a non-prehensile tail.
Halflings' ears end in a point. Their points most resemble those of mixed sapiens and proportionally are not much larger than a human's.

Genetics and Reproduction
Halfling reproduction takes place via internal fertilization by sexual intercourse. Upon fertilization, gestation occurs inside the uterus.
Halfling gestation period averages around 200 days. Halflings generally cannot bear more than one or two pregnancies per their lifetime, as the process is very dangerous and draining to the parent.
Halfling newborns are incredibly small compared to other sapien infants, averaging about 16 centimeters long and 1.4 kilograms in weight. Most halflings give birth to more than one baby per pregnancy; twins or triplets are common and quadruplets or quintuplets are certainly not unheard of. Single births are much less common than a multiple birth. Single births are often seen as a unfavorable sign from their gods, and only children often pitied.

Dietary Needs and Habits
Early halflings were omnivores foragers and scavengers. Most Halflings remain similarly, as omnivorous yet still very opportunistic creatures.
Halflings eat frequently and plentifully; in proper halfling society, halflings average around 5 formal meals daily.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Halflings' faces hold a softness in their features for their entire lifetime.
Halflings might grow a bit of fuzz to fur in sideburns, but very rarely grow beards or mustaches.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Halfling senses include vision, hearing, sense of smell, sense of taste, touch and sensitivity to the planet's magnetic field.
While having sharp natural senses, this is exclusive to daylight hours as halflings lack darkvision.
Halfling sense of smell and taste are more impressive than those of any other sapien.
