Elikai Nineveh IX v00

The main antagonist of Red Sky. He is a unique Nanite that was an experiment in dialing back the self-preservation instinct of the Nanites in an attempt to see what such a creature would think about if not consumed by a constant need to stay alive at whatever cost.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Excellent. His incredible weight isn't due to being out of shape, but rather is attributed to Nanites' different physiology and the fact that their exoskeleton is made harder than diamonds. Normally, this isn't a problem, since Nanites are so small and barely weigh anything in proportion, but when human-sized, the exoskeletons quickly add massive amounts of weight.

Body Features

Skin tone is a nondescript Caucasian.

Identifying Characteristics

Like all Nanites, Elikai has a code tattoo on his back, which for him is a large "00" in white with dark red underneath.

Physical quirks

Similar to many villains, Elikai has a confident swagger; usually, though, he can be found sitting, as he views many things not interesting enough for him to give his full attention to, and also as a consequence of most human-made structures finding it hard to support his immense Nanite weight. Once he starts making the world over to accommodate himself, though, this isn't nearly as much of a problem anymore.

Special abilities

Assumed telekinesis -- which is actually just his invisible tails.

Apparel & Accessories

He can usually be seen wearing high-end white suits, if only to drive home how important he believes himself to be and how he deserves expensive things. He is the only Nanite besides Song (occasionally) who wears clothing -- a big part of this is that Elikai wants to be as unique and different as possible from other Nanites, who he believes to be hindered by their similarities to each other, which, of course, include the self-preservation instinct. Therefore, while he /can/ remain completely unclothed (as Nanites don't have genitals or secondary sex characteristics), he chooses not to, as a show at all possible times that he is different from other Nanites.

Specialized Equipment

Elikai, like all Nanites, has enormous, deadly claws in place of hands and feet, sharp enough to slice through human bone easily. This alone would be enough to make him a threat, but of course, in addition, he also has the harder-than-diamond exoskeleton of a Nanite, which renders weapons virtually useless against him, since the only thing that can pierce a Nanite's exoskeleton is the claws of another Nanite. As if that wasn't enough, Elikai also has a tail, as do all Nanites, which is covered in scales that refract light in such a way that the tail is completely invisible. Technically, the tail is actually fourteen different thinner tails, which can join together when needed. Because of their invisibility, Elikai can kill people with them without moving, which leads to the incorrect assumption that Elikai is telekinetic, and causing the damage with his mind instead of slashing/impaling someone with his tails, which is actually what is happening.   Elikai also knows his way around human weaponry, just in case.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Elikai is one of the experiments in variety that the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil conducted. As Nanite production grew under their supervision, they were curious to see what would happen when the all-consuming self-preservation instinct of the Nanites was purposefully dialed back, giving a Nanite much more control over its mental state and morality. Elikai was the result of that experiment, and therefore the only Nanite to truly have the ability to empathize and understand morality, though human morality still has him at a loss.   Elikai was also an experiment in whether a Nanite could bond with a human since near-birth, and grow along with it, controlling it from a very young age instead of having to wait until its maturity. The experiment was successful; Elikai's host Elie has been controlled by him for his entire conscious life.

Gender Identity

Cisgender male; as a Nanite, his features completely reflect that.

Sexuality

Asexual. Doesn't even think about it.

Education

Elikai, like all Nanites, receives the standard education given to humans; there is no Nanite equivalent of education, as Nanites are able to read their hosts' minds for information.

Accomplishments & Achievements

He himself is an accomplishment; however, no other Nanites were made like him, as this was around the time the TKGE was taken over by their own creations, and therefore, their goals changed from experimenting with variety to mass production at all costs.   He is extremely adept at his control of Elie, and very innovative. This is part of why many Nanites fear him -- Elikai is someone who has the ability to think past self-preservation and see new ways to advance their species and its invasion of the human race.

Morality & Philosophy

Elikai has more understanding of morality than any other Nanite. Interestingly enough, this doesn't translate to humanity; he's still flummoxed by how humans act and why they act, as his own moral compass is largely different than a human's. Because of this, he has been known to mess around with humans like his own personal playthings after he siphons size from Elie just to see how they react.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Much of Elikai's actions are driven by simple curiosity. "What happens if I do this", "how will someone react if I take this from them", and so on. Over time, he begins to harbor more and more resentment for humans, seeing them as weak and not worthy of the position on this planet that they inhabit, feeling that a species like Nanites would be far better suited to it. This drives many of his actions during the series.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Very good at reading people. Also proficient in tailoring his words and personality to best intimidate others, or to get them to do what he wants; in short, he's very good at manipulation.

Vices & Personality flaws

Because he doesn't entirely understand human morality, he can't always know what someone is going to do in a certain situation. Usually, he's correct, especially after watching humans prove him right time and time again with their cowardice, but there are times when he assumes incorrectly; for example, he assumes that Elie will, when pushed to extremes, end up being merciful, just like he thinks all humans will -- however, it turns out that Elie has come to terms with sometimes being unable to forgive people and therefore has no problem delivering just punishment onto those that deserve it. The fact that Elikai didn't see this despite growing up rooting around in Elie's head and controlling his body shows just how arrogant Elikai can be, and how he often assumes that humanity is more of a monolith than it actually is.

Personality Quirks

His tails often move in tune with his emotions, like most Nanites', but since they're invisible, it's impossible to see. Elikai also likes to make people in his presence uncomfortable by giving them thinly veiled physical threats, like running his claw along his throat with a smile, or things that cause similar amounts of discomfort and apprehension.

Social

Religious Views

Atheist.

Social Aptitude

The typical "charismatic leader" stereotype; just as leaders through history had charisma and rallied people behind their cause, Elikai is the same. Behind the scenes, Elikai is irritable, impatient, and often frustrated, and can become extremely volatile without much reasoning. This is why many of his followers fear him -- while he promises to make a new life for them, his temper is short and he can and will execute anyone he likes on a whim if they annoy him too much, or even if he's just particularly bored.

Mannerisms

Elikai holds himself in a somewhat formal way, which makes his unexpected killings even more insidious. One has a difficult time understanding what Elikai is actually feeling; he'll just as often watch someone with a smile and his hands behind his back as he impales them on his tails as not. He's hard to read, and his mannerisms reflect it, making it difficult to tell if one is even going to leave the room alive.

Speech

Similar to many "malicious but charismatic leader" types. He speaks well, but not in a way that goes over the heads of people. Talking to him feels almost like talking to an old friend, and you can't help but want to listen to more of what he's saying. Before you know it, he's beginning to sow the seeds of emotional manipulation in your mind, and often you won't know that you're being used until after the fact.   His enunciation and word choice are impeccable, and some might assume that he attended some sort of leadership workshops in his lifetime, which he of course has not.
