The shadow that spoke

Once upon a time there was a little boy. Now this little boy was endlessly curious about the world and everything in it. Every day he would wake up eager to learn more about how things worked, and to see something new. Now there is nothing wrong about curiosity, and knowledge is something to be treasured, but this boy never cared about where he received his knowledge or even tested the truths he found. If someone told him that the sky was a floating sea, he believed it . If he was told that the earth was the belly of a great beast, he simply accepted it as true. And nothing anyone said, or cautioned him about, changed how we went about gathering his knowledge.   One day he came upon a small shadow that spoke to him about the truth. It told him things about his friends and family that he never knew, and he watched as it was proven right. See, he said to himself, the shadow told truth and it was proven right! I must learn more. And so every day the boy spoke to the shadow and he was told so many amazing things. He learned about life and death. He learned about the people in this world, and what they did. He learned so much truth, and he brought it all into himself and he became that truth. And then he shared it.   Soon everyone knew the truths that the shadow spoke, and no one questioned or sought if it was the truth. And so the shadow begin to grow inside the people, as it had done with the boy, and the people became of the shadow. Soon the shadow had consumed the people, and all that was left was the truth it spoke, and whether or not it was the truth, no one was left to know. For the world was filled with shadow, and all that was in it was darkenss. All because one boy cared not how or what he learned, only that he heard and believed.
