Puddlebranch

"Once, the entrance to our village was hidden beneath the roots of the great old Myristica. Most people now know how to find it, but luckily we are not of much interest for most traders so we have been able to keep some of our quietness and peace. Since the awakening of the trees our Myristica has fallen ill, but we take care for it as well as we can."

The Great Old Myristica

The Forest-gnomes of Puddlebranch live in the rootsystem of a very large and ancient jungle tree, called the Myristica. In order to enter the village, one needs to find the well-hidden entrance somewhere in the roots of the tree. Below the ground, there is a massive hollow where the roots of the Myristica function as the ground for the Gnomes to live on. Multiple waterfalls guide the water to the depths of the hollow where the roots enter the water.   After the awakening of the trees, the Myristica fell ill and has been ill to this day for more than 500 years now. Sometimes, small neighborhoods have to move to another root when the root they are settled on dies off. The process of illness has been going really slowly, but any improvement in its health is yet to be seen.

Life in Puddlebranch

The Forest-gnomes are very happy-go-lucky and even though their Myristica is ill, they never seem to worry. Their life consists of hunting and gathering in the surrounding forest. They know how to handle the trees and you can often hear them ask a berry-bush for permission before picking berries from it. They are very careful not to hit a tree with their arrows and they keep track of the amount of animals in the forest to keep the nature in balance.   The Gnomes are very helpful to each other and don't care about money very much. The influx of trading in their village has changed this a little and some citizens have started valuing money a little bit too much. Often, these Gnomes have a hard time spending their money though as most Gnomes would rather accept a service or item in return than money.

Trading Outpost

A minor trade route from Shaamikh towards Fizzlebrick and Farendil passes close to Puddlebranch and a trading outpost has been set up along the road. The Gnomes prefer to keep the foreigners outside their village, but will allow passage to traders who need a place to rest.   The trading outpost is a new opportunity for Gnomes to trade their wares for things they could never acquire in their own forests.

The Empire

Puddlebranch was peacefully incorporated into The Fenorian Empire in the year 856 after they had stayed hidden for more than 14 years inside the Empires borders.
