Today is a fateful day for yourself, Greater Shardholm, and Our Lady Queen Holm herself. Having successfully passed the Vanguard Training presented by Her Lady’s Military, you are one of the lucky twelve (12) who will be assigned to the 1ST VANGUARD of Her Lady’s Shardholm.

As you are assigned under Her Lady’s Military, you will be granted the assistance of the said military. However, due to your contractual nature with Her Lady’s Military, your actions, both famous and infamous if they are, will be thrust upon the 1ST VANGUARD rather than that of Her Lady’s Military or Her Lady Queen Holm herself.

By signing this document, made legal by Her Lady’s Lawbinders, you accept your contractual obligations to Her Lady’s Military but also accept the responsibilities of any action seen or otherwise deemed ill intent for public view while working officially under Her Lady’s Military.

The Mission of the 1st Vanguard,

As the first Vanguard under Her Lady’s Military, your first assignment may appear simple compared to the adventures of your past lives. But please understand the direct importance of the Shards to Greater Shardholm as you read the following briefing.

The Shard of Restbrook has reported “Elemental Contamination” of their water source, the Resting River. Due to the lack of information surrounding the origin of the aforementioned ‘Contamination’ is it unknown whether this report is accurate. Although if this report is in any way truthful, this contamination can poison our people and cripple the land to decrease crop yields, ruining the lives of citizens of and around the Shard.

It is the task of the 1ST VANGUARD to initially establish a center of operations somewhere within the Shard of Restbrook. You will be supplied with the appropriate coin and documentation for standard living and authorization to find quarter while posted at the Shard although, under regulations, external pleasures such as drink or excessive food will not be allotted.

After you have successfully made contact with the citizens of the Shard of Restbrook, you are tasked with directly investigating these reports and the source of the Resting River itself. If the reports of “Elemental Contamination” are found factual, the mission’s priority shifts to fixing the problem by any means necessary short of direct violence. Due to the priority of this mission, accurate reports are to be made and handled by a designated communications specialist and sent in every three days.
