Drugs of the Daedlands

Icewater   Useage: Light Drug   Icewater is a special liquor distilled in bottles formed out of the crystallized remains of wandering undead from the daedlands. This clear slightly iridescent liquid provides a range of magical effects and a light high. This is a bit of a game of roulette, as not all affects provided by this liquid are beneficial, however all are ultimately temporary.   This liquid is addictive and long term exposure leads to physical mutations, which vary wildly user to user.   Ribfin   Useage: Coagulant and Antibacterial Poultice Ingrediant. Light Drug.   Harvested from the bones and cartilage of a staple fish, this powder is used mainly as the primary ingredient in poultices. The bones and cartalige are taken and fermented with a number of local herbs until the bones become brittle, then the entire mixture is dried out and ground into a uniform mix and treated with wood ash.   While this has been a staple medical ingredient since the time of the Old Elven Empire, it has recently seen a recreational use by youth because if it's relative ease of acquisition. When snorted, it numbs the nasal passages and gives a mild euphoria. More emotionally addictive than physically. Long term users often experience erosion of the nasal cavities, bleeding and facial rash.   Opal   Useage: Heavy Drug. Ceremonial use by Elven Nations   Opal is a highly addictive hallucinogen crafted by dwarves and exported to the elven nations. Even though possession and creation are illegal in dwarven lands, this substance is legal in most other nations.   Opal is the combination of the resin of a medical tree and the slag from a specific combination of metal ores. The metal ores and the resin is reduced in an acid bath, then dried and pressed into small tablets. These are then fired, melting them and giving them a dark clear consistency. Opal is highly addictive and poisonous(mainly because of the heavy metals inside), but gives a long-lasting transcendant trip. Heavy users unfortunately do not last long, often going from initial exposure to death within a few short years.   The worst part of Opal is the crash. A good first trip will often put a person under for several days, but in severe cases this can last as long as a week. The person is very unresponsive, and new users often have trouble holding food down. Skin yellowing, sunken eyes, blotchy skin and tooth decay are all common maladies.
