Phanderlin
Once a large market town, Phanderlin like most of the North was ravaged by the Sea Princes during the Sea Prince's most recent invasion of Kloutland.
In the wake of the reconquest of the North by Kloutland, Phanderlin has been slow to rebuild but with King Landon's plans to redevelop the North, Phanderlin stands to economically benefit from the renewed interest in the prosperity and security of the North.
Demographics
Phanderlin's population is predominantly human but includes a few half-wood elves and halfing residents. However Phanderlin is regularly visted by people from all races especially the nearby the Gnomes from the enclave at Gnomengard.
Due to the current state of the North, most of the town's residents are relativley poor. Even the wealthier members like the merchants of the town come to Phanderlin desperate to make a fortune. The wealthiest of the town residents is Harbin Wester, a banker and town mayor.
Government
The daily affairs of the town are overseen by the Mayor of Phanderlin.
The current mayor is Harbin Wester, the only banker this far north in Kloutland. Being the richest member of the town, he was elected by the townsfolk largely on the belief he would be seen as the most acceptable leader of the town by the southern nobility.
Defences
Phanderlin has no defences such as walls.
When facing threats like bandit raids the hardy citizens of Phanderlin can will form a militia to defend their lives and homes.
In the face of larger threats, the residents will flee south to cities like Beraton.
Industry & Trade
Most of Phanderlin's residents are farmers with livestock such as goats or cattle being the most common agricutural products produced. Besides livestock, Phanderlin's fertile fields provide the town with cereals, fruit and vegetables.
Phanderlin is the central market for the small scale mining that is currently undertaken in the Shield Mountains. While the Shield Mountains are likely to hold untold deposits of mineral wealth, due to the instability in the north only the bravest or most desperate minors have invested their time and money into reopening mines or searching for new deposits.
As it stands, Phanderlin is the largest established settlement in north east Kloutland and thus is a commerical hub of sorts. The town does host representatives from the Lionshield merchant family and the Miners Guild.
With King Laland's re-establshment of Leilon and the only road from the South running to same going through Phanderlin, the town is likely to prosper if Leilon succeeds.Infrastructure
Phanderlin's infrastructure is poor.
The only paved road is the North Road but due to years of neglect the road is in a dilapidated state.
History
While their is evidence that the area around Phanderlin has been inhabited since the times of the old Hadian Empire, the constant political upheavels involved in the intial settlement of Albader by the Kloutish people and raids by the Sea Princes and Freelanders have seen Phanderlin like much of the north abandoned and raided only for it be rebuilt.
The temporary conquest of the north by the Sea Princes has damaged much of the North including Phanderlin who are in the process of rebuilding with the support of King Landon III, the current King of Kloutland.
Most recently, Phanderlin was under threat from a rogue young white dragon, Croyvoyin, who established himself at Icespire Peak in the Shield Mountains. The residents hired a group of adventurers who after helping around the town managed to slay the dragon and freeing the fear of a dragon attack.
Geography
Phanderlin sits in the foothills that straddle the Shield Mountains that run up the northern coast of Kloutland.
The weather is largely temperate but the shield mountains protect Phanderlin and the surrounding area from experiencing the harsh storms that come off the sea to the east.
