Session IX Report

General Summary

Gathering themselves after battling the Rusalka and freeing the tied up dockmaster Ashir, it wasn’t long before the party saw a dark shadow flying overhead, followed by shouts and screams coming from Helzand. Seemingly not quite done with the village they were all set to leave, they rushed around, taking the long way to ensure no hitches held them back and fell upon Lina and her guardians facing off against a horrifying sight: familiarly dressed cultists, the same armaments as the one lying within the dragon’s lair back in Shairdsmire, holding innocent citizens hostage, knives to throats, as a robed woman stood at none other than Rebecca’s door demanding the whereabouts of “the artifact”, risen skeletons and a shadow lingering from fresh corpses in the street. Quick to act, Valonor tackled the robed lady to the ground, catching her in a grapple she could not free herself of as they discussed the hostage situation, trying to work out what the malevolent visitors wanted and how to get their people free, not before a mistake was made by an unleashed spell, causing the life of one hostage to be lost.
Eventually, they were able to agree to escort the group out with the promise that Helzand would keep the cultist that took the life under lock and key to pay for his crimes, while the others would be free to leave if they told them where the supposed compatriots were.
As our heroes fled towards Sylvester’s tower to meet the other side of the threat, Lina and her men turned on the villains, launching into battle as the group made their way once more through the Willowy Woods.
As they approached the mudbrick tower, the group saw Sylvester stood at his open door, talking fiercely with another cultist, a talk robed woman with dark skin and a skeletal mask covering the top part of her face, and a giant bat with glowing red-eyes beside the stairs. As Vimley slammed the door closed with thaumaturgy, the woman spun around, poised to fight.
