When I was still a young god, I realized that I was destined for leadership. It felt like my rightful place. Unfortunately, it seemed that Odin already had the primary leadership role. I wasn't interested in overthrowing him for his position so I took a few decades to consider how I could best take a leadership role amongst my peers. Always one to be as honest with myself as possible I took stock of my situation. I was but one of many gods.  Most of those gods were brawlers and ruffians. They focused on their strength and 'might makes right' as a life philosophy. Odin was an exception because while he did possess physical prowess, he also prized wisdom. That could not be said for many of the others. 

As I was not possessed of the martial skills of others, I decided that this route of wisdom would also suit me well. I spent time in the other realms and learned as much as I could about how their societies and systems worked. I found that the best systems had a set of laws. Ours did as well, but it was not well developed and many circumvented it regularly. This was it. This could be my niche. I began cultivating a reputation for neutrality. Others began to come to me for advice because I would give it without judgment or emotion. I would deliver it as plainly as possible in simple words. I would say things like, 'while it is okay to fight, it is not right to kill unless in battle.' Since that fit with the code of laws already in place, others simply agreed once they heard my new advice. Soon my word became law and others would come to me to settle their disputes. Ah...power at last.
