Zaguk

(Formerly Truett)
Zaguk, as it is now known, is the first moon of Quaji. The gentle heat given off by the great gas giant, and the closer orbit of Truett, used to allow life on this moon in the orbit of its great neighbor. Although tidally locked with terrible storms that wracked the edges of its habitable space, Truett was a home for many halflings, humans, tieflings, changelings, and kalashtar.
Their fate was not kind. When the Illithid conquered Quaji, they sought Truett as a breeding ground. The entire planet was harvested for all it was worth. All plant life was burnt away and destroyed, or otherwise fed into the multitude of elder brains bred on the planet. All humanoid life was either enslaved, used as fuel, or otherwise used as slaves to procure more illithids. Truett survived for many years, draining the atmosphere for fuel for illithid spelljammers, until it was clear the planet was dying. The illithid moved on, leaving the human cattle ranches, slave chambers, and emptied breeding facilities. Without oversight operation, the slaves abandoned to their fate could hardly care for themselves, and summarily met their fates, either by their own depression and starvation, or because the planet itself gave up on its life.
All that remains now is death. Empty brine pools, empty stockades, empty fields and valleys. A planet devoid of life, sapped of life. Perhaps one day Truett can be reclaimed and recovered. But even estimating a recovery in the next 8000 years is generous.
