Ferakk Mountain
Pronunciation: fer-RACK
Map Index: F-3, F-4
Location: Central southern Beorlan, at the southernmost end of the Kraguk Mountain Range
Geography: This high steep mountain stands out with its highly contrasting layers of rock which range from white, gray, black, and dark red. Each of these colors contain a different rock type, with the dark red layers being iron ore. The great mountain remains denuded of most vegetation largely due to the destructive actions of large numbers of fire goblins. Volcanic haze and fine ash drifting downwind from the nearby volcano of Krakurod often limits visibility in the area and leaves the whole area with an acrid odor.
Primary Population: Fire Goblin
Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: None
Climate: The tropical weather remains hot and arid year-round.
Wildlife: Little plant or animal life exists in this area due to the destructive behavior of the large numbers of fire goblins which inhabit this region.
Humanoids: Fire goblins from the kingdom of Gok Grusmak completely dominate this whole region. With their vast numbers, any intruders meet a swift end. The goblins maintain an alliance with the Turoch with whom they do some trade.
Monsters: Few monsters exist in this area unless they have come to some type of accommodation with the fire goblins of Gok Grusmak.
History: For many thousands of years, Ferrakk Mountain has provided what seems like an endless supply of iron ore. Prior to the Great Cataclysm the goblin’s iron was widely traded with much of it going to the Kishari Empire.
Today: The lower slopes of this mountain stand riddled with mine tunnels extended into the mountain to extract iron ore. Rumors state that deep underground the fire goblins possess great underground smelters that run off the heat from magma. Despite this, the goblins do not possess the technological skills to make high quality steel and produce only low to medium grade iron.
