Master Crafter
The title Master Crafter is one well known and even better respected when it comes to the world stage. Every craftsman is part of the Crafting Guild as part of an introduction into crafting, but only a few will attain the title of Master Crafter.
Working in service of their craft for 20+ years is the first requirement, as you must be able to show a dedication to what you build. While preferring to be continuous, you can break it up if your lifespan is long. The second requirement is crafting an item requested from the Guild Leaders, specialized in your skill. You must source every material and use only the most basic tools to create the item. It is to highlight your skill and knowledge of the materials required. The final is to have taken at least three apprentices, who must then highlight their own skills to prove you taught the craft.
After the title is given, you join the elite members with a passion for their work. Rare material is available for you, and the elite of the elite will spend good coin to have your products in their home. Some Master Crafter’s turn to giving advice or consulting in their retirement, while others continue their craft, aiming to get better or make some more coin.
Master Crafters are voted into the Craftman’s Circle, with a representative from each major craft (Such as Glass, Metal, Wood). They help vote on issues pertaining to the Crafting guild and can act as representatives when they interact with other guilds. Some prefer to stay in the craft, continuing to build and create for various purposes and don’t pursue the more political or people-pleasing aspect.
There are only a set amount of Master Crafters in the world, and every five years the Craftman’s Circle meets to discuss expanding the membership, and usually allow a spot or two per craft to join. Sometimes they will hold their expansion until the next meeting.
