There were three once, in the beginning. But when Taeyang the Sun Dragon and Poalii the Skulking Crab wared in heaven; their triplet Irkahana the Wise Tortoise was slain as it stood between them. Today the corpse of the Tortoise has rotted to soil and been reshaped by generations of souls born of the union of the two it left behind when it became the first of the dead.
