What are Màraparii? in Qal'ath | World Anvil

What are Màraparii?

If you've recently followed the Realm of Qal'ath, firstly - thank you! Secondly, you may wonder what Màraparii means.   The term is based on my invented language, Foyiitùn and is made up of three "word components".
  1. màr (pronounced mair) - is the adjective meaning "observant" or "watchful".
  2. par - is based on the word for the "humans" in my world, the Paràntii. But that word could also mean "people", though would exclusively be used to refer to those of Parànti origin.
  3. ii - the general plural ending for a group with commonality or nationality. This is in the same way as Kyadii and Foyii / Woodsmen for example.
While technically màrparantii would be correct, Foyiitùn uses something called "Language Smoothing" which shortens words so long as the shortened version does not cause confusion with other pre-existing words.   Therefore if you follow Qal'ath you are part of the Observant People or Watchful People.   Thank you, Màrparantii!
