Siren's Port

The City of Reflection

Siren's Port, it's a place where many adventures begin and many more fall short. Make sure to visit the Dick & Pickle while you're there...

A City of Broken Bones & Dreams

While Siren's Port is a bustling and thriving city, it has a reputation for being one of the harshest urban environments to live in. The main streets are almost always packed with people going about their day to day lives and tourists can easily find themselves swept up in the torrential flowing masses. As well as having a reputation for being a harsh place to live, Siren's Port was also the embarking point of what would become known as the Fellhorn Crusades.   Through the years, Siren's Port has become almost an attraction for people to visit in Kirchwal, with landmarks like the Dick & Pickle and the Giant Hornet becoming famous throughout the Eight Lands.

The Ocean's Pleasure

Rumoured to be home to mermaids, the bay of Siren's Port is a treacherous area. Open to the elements, only the bravest of seafarers would attempt to embark from Siren's Port during stormy weather or even when the waves are slightly harsher than normal. Near the edge of the bay, sharp rocks are concealed by the deep green of the sea, making it even more treacherous for the inexperienced sailor.   Every so often, when the three moons of Pronathea all shine fully at once, the bay will come alive with a soft green glow along the rocks and coral at the bottom of the bay and the waves emanate a quiet, almost choral singing.

The Urban Jungle

Siren's Port is a noisy place, both in volume and in the sporadic placement of buildings. The layout is quite haphazard, with buildings almost falling on top of one another and some are placed in the strangest of areas, creating a dangerous environment for anyone to visit, let alone live in. Despite this, the inhabitants are quite happy and many have thriving businesses and lives within the city.   Siren's Port is also the home of the second largest Magisterium presence, with magical crime being most prevalent within Siren's Port but without it being the main home for the Magisterium, an honour that is bestowed upon Turnhaven.

Great and solid article. Really captures the readers attention with the quote at the beginning and makes one want to read more. You could talk more about the natural resources of sirens port, the organizational structure of the city and also what guilds and other things you can find there. For now its a solid article that has a lot of potential. Keep up the good work!

Leaving criticism as requested; What is the the Dick & Pickle and the Giant Hornet? What makes this place worth living in? You mention quite extensively that this is a horribly dangerous place to live, so why is it a bustling and thriving city with that kind of reputation? Why would they build a place in an area that's so dangerous to live? Is this place just a port, or are there other services? What is it a port to; where does this lead? Why haven't the people there done anything to quell the dangers that lurk around this supposedly thriving city?

Good article. The "Dick and Pickle" bit caught me off in the beginning, but this is some solid worldbuilding. Overall, a good read.
