Omone

"The Omone are a solitary people, not easily threatened..."

Isolation

Despite being a people that are detached from the rest of the world, they are more than able to sustain themselves off the bleak environment that they inhabit. They are extremely proficient fishermen, being able to haul in enough fish for their entire town for a week over the course of a day.   While their main work is based with fishing and developing better ways for them to fish, some of them become sought after craftsmen, as the limitation of their environment leads to unique materials and designs being used and created. Pottery is their main non-textile craft as it allows them to be able to store food and water as needed, and the skills attributed to pottery are also utilized in the creation of their houses, which are primarily mud walls.

Dedication

During their lives, the Omone are taught a myriad of skills, aiming to be the best they can at each of them. These skills include fishing, pottery, tailoring, as well as hunting. Neither men or women are limited in their desire to utilize their skills and are expected to pick up where someone has left off should it be required.   Most of them are not able to become fully proficient in all their skills, but every single one of them aim to do their best.

Cremation

Traditionally, the Omone people are cremated when they die, and their possessions spread amongst those who require them in the town. Their home is kept empty for several weeks as the town mourns, and then it is passed to a child of the town. Their own child is selected if they had them, but if they did not then another child is chosen to inherit it.

Oooh, I like the resourcefulness of these people! Where do they live? :o I'd love to know what kind of environment they have to endure and gain a better understanding why they put so much value in their selected skills. ^^   Keep up the good work! :D

They live in a town called Omo, on the island of Iscoania which is quite inhospitable and rather wasteland-esque. It's harsh, rocky, and very little grows there.
