Hibani

"You see, the hibani are something to admire... No, Jeffrey, you can't eat them! Why would you want to eat them?! They're made of stone, for fucks sake!"
— A teacher of creature habitats and habits

Cobbled Exterior

They appear fairly plain, almost as if a person was carved from the rocks themselves, however, the hibani are seen as a guide through the mountains of the Eight Lands, ever present in their stoic guise.   Hibani have no facial features, though their bodies look as if they had been a person turned to stone rather than a rock manifestation. Hibani can be of any stone, but the most common to exist is the granite hibani. Rare occasions have seen the manifestation of obsidian hibani, however while they can tolerate a significant amount more damage than obsidian normally could, they are remain extremely delicate compared to other types of hibani.   There is no need for them to have food, water, or shelter, as their sole purpose is as a manifestation of the mountain and its will. The hibani decide who may travel its paths, as well as which paths to take on their journey.

A cold interior

Hibani live a cold life, one without family, without a partner to be with, without a spark of joy. Their existence is tied to their mountain, and while they could leave and travel elsewhere, it would be by the whim of the cliffs and stones they preside over, not by their own choice.   Not much more than this is known of the hibani, their lack of speech and expression making it impossible to gauge their reactions to questions that they have been asked.   They stand waiting, their heads fixed on the newest adventurers to choose their peak to climb.   They stand waiting, as they have done and will do.   They stand, waiting.

Ooooh, what an intriguing creature! :o And heavy too! However, they are very useful as mountain guides. ^^   Keep up the good work! :D
