Dian

"Death...is not the end, little one, it's just a place to set off from..."
— Unknown

Presently Faded

While many see death as the end, a place to enter the universe for eternity and never return, there are those who know that death is not the end. The shadowed figure who you only meet at your demise is there simply to act as your guide to your next journey, one of your choosing. The cold grip you feel around your soul when you pass is momentary, not everlasting, but many refuse to acknowledge the warmth that comes after.   There are, in principle, no wrong answers to how you enter your next journey, but your stepping off the mortal coil is the moment that you need to leave your past behind and journey ahead to the next moment, one stretched out to infinity before you.   Dian represents all of the choices a fallen can make in their next journey, whether they choose to sulk and become a ghost, whether they desire to be reborn into the world anew, or whether they wish to pass onto a place of their own choosing. Dian holds no issue with any choice, but should you decide to become a ghost, they will visit you once a mortal year to see if you have decided on a new path, as the others need no more guidance.

Faded into the Past

Dian is a strange deity in their depictions, as they are believed to be the shadow of everything that lives on the mortal plane. From the smallest flower to the tallest mountain, Dian will guide them to their next life.   No one who hasn't passed has witnessed Dian, and only those who may speak to the dead may try to hear what Dian is like, however many of the dead do not speak of the figure who guided them.   The dead speak of their life as they knew it, for to speak of their present is to show the living that the dead live once more.

Loved this article! I personally would like to become a ghost to haunt people if that's an option ^-^

Lovely article! I like how passionately you write about Death and the concept behind having multiple options to move on after the former life.   Is there a reason why the dead cannot reveal that they live once more? Is that Dian's doing, or is it to keep the peace between "the dead" and the living?   Keep up the good work! :D

More to keep the peace, yeah. When someone hears "the dead are living once more" they tend to freak out a bit
