Coming of Age for the Northern Draconics

Maybe you can make an exception every now and then

A ceremony that has gone several changes since its first creation, but that is vital to the Northern Draconic Villages nonetheless

Old celebration

Every person who was 21 years of age or was going to turn 21 that same year was taken to Mount Onolde at around the height the trees started to take over the terrain sometime during the Fifth Season Their task was only one: prevent the eggs from falling to their doom. If they let more than 5 eggs fall, they were considered to have failed the ceremony and were banished from the villages, never to return again

Those who succeed, however, are then revealed the secrets of Elemental Magic, and spend the following year training in the arts of magic and self-defense

Current celebration

Nowadays, the rain makes it too dangerous for anyone to approach the mountain top, so the skills tested now are physical instead of agility and reaction time.
The young adults are brought to the bottom of the mountain, and they are to reach the clouds merely by their own physical strength. This includes jumping and climbing, but using magic is welcomed as well

Of course, anyone who dares go beyond the minimum is rewarded accordingly. Once they return to their village, they will be honored with a dragon tattoo on their right shoulder, and they get to choose how it looks.

Failure is not really a thing for this ritual - but if someone fails to reach the clouds without a good enough excuse will probably be publicly humilliated by their peers, and will forever deal with the knowledge that they are not good enough

Origin

The people of the Northern Draconic Villages are ones that have become protectors of dragons. This is due to their proximity to the creatures as they often build their settlements around or on top of mountains.
They soon came to realize how reckless dragons were around the cliffsides and mountaintops, not to mention the eggs constantly falling from their nests. And so, after a few arrangaments and setting up some rules, the ceremony started
