Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom

I'm telling you, it was all done by a secret masonic cell within the New Worlds Foundation, they are now hidden in the catacombs deep beneath Utekha City!
— Björn De Smet, conspiracy theorist
The Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom are, or were, a collection of ceremonial objects belonging to the British Monarchy. They comprise of 142 objects in total, including crowns, scepters and robes among others. It is both of historical and immense monetary value, with the oldest object going back to the 12th century and the entire set featuring no less than 23,578 precious stones.   While much can be said about the history of these objects, today they are mostly known for one thing: Being the object of the biggest heist in world history. When they were not being used, the crown jewels used to be kept in the Tower of London, where they were displayed to the public. This was the case on September 3rd, 2149. The next day, however, every object had vanished without a trace, from St Edward's Crown down to the last trumpet. They have not reappeared to this day.   The incident launched one of the largest criminal investigations of all time. According to some sources, up to ten percent of the entire British police forces where engaged in finding the jewels. Diplomats pulled every string for foreign assistance in the matter, but to no avail.   There are many rumors and theories, of course. Some are sure that the crown jewels were simply disassembled, melted down an fenced off. That just raises the question of course, why anyone just out for money would go through the trouble of robbing the Tower of London instead of just hitting a jewlery job. Others claim the jewels now are in the collection of some excentric rich person, the names of several Martian billionaires are often floated, only partially in jest. It can be argued of course that such a thing would have left a money trail or would relatively easily be noticed by the authorities in some other way. Others again see a political motivation to the deed, a signal against the monarchy or maybe even all of the ways of Sol society. This theory often assumes that the jewels were smuggled to Kent Prime aboard the colony ship Utekha. It fails to explain of course why no organization ever claimed to be responsible for the disappearance.   Ultimately, all that can be said is that the crown jewels were last seen in 2149, and never since.
