TAW
TAW is an acronym of “/t͡sɑː⁵⁵/an/wéy” or “We, We, We” in the three main protolanguages of humanity. This decision was made in the hopes of encouraging unity and demonstrating equality between nations and cultures. It was also chosen since the acronym is the same in all tongues.
The TAW was established to govern interstellar activity. Directives such as TAW Directive 04 were issued at the inception of the organisation. TAW business is generally organised online, with secure channels for communication and voting; as such there are no physical 'headquarters'.
Structure
Tri-Cameral: Populi (direct democracy), Principia (representatives from nation states), Magistri (nominated scientists/oligarchs).
Populi
All humans are permitted to vote on as part of the Populi. Turn out on issues is variable. By the 22nd century CE, more humans exist on colonies than earth; the weight of mass voting becomes steadily more in favour of interstellar humans.
Principia
One Principe is allowed for each country (recognized by the UN). This Principe is the delegate acting on behalf of the country’s government, and may be part of the Principia for as long as their government allows. The Principia are a mix of democratically elected, autocratic, and bureaucratic officials.
Magistri
Initially a scientific advisory body, the Magistri soon became the outlet for corporate concerns. The Magistri is split into several advisory groups, who precede over their specialist subject. There must be 99 members of each Magistri group. People are nominated by the current Magistri of each group and must receive a majority by vote (elimination of low vote nominees). Magistri leave by: retiring after 50 years, being formally removed from office for wrongdoing, or being replaced by majority vote.
Proceedure
A suitable topic is raised by any component, the Principia decide the course of action by majority, the Principia consults the Magistri for advice and ratification, the bill is posed to the Populi who vote on it. The Magistri ratification allows a simple majority to win by Populi vote, but the Principia can choose to forgo ratification and the vote must win 75%. The TAW was designed to be suitable for all world government types to be able to participate, no matter their size.
Public Agenda
Govern outer space affairs, encourage the 'redistribution' of Earth's excess humanity, prevent international conflict in space.
