Valshiil

Enrii, are you certain he won't bite me? I mean, he's looking at me like I'm on his dinner list.   Oh, don't worry, he knows better, trust me. As long as I don't tell him you're his next meal, you'll be fine. Just don't insult him when he's near. He's very...sensitive.   This behemoth, this giant arse beast. Sensitive? H-how in devil's name?   I just told you, don't insult him. Past his looks, Iinriin is just an overgrown cat that's soft at heart. Come here. He'll let you pet him. Come on, try it.   I...I think I'm alright.

The Fajun'niil Forest is home to many urban legends and an even greater number of deadly fiends. Among them is one that walks silently among the thick and damp brush, its exceptional nose smelling and tracking the slightest scent of blood for miles on end. It sits upon the forest's food chain's throne, an apex fiend among the zan'nil's apex fiends.   Valshiil, otherwise known as "King's Cat," is a large beast-fiend that rules the Fajun'niil Forest. Often also referred to as "Onkel kov Zuniin," overgrown cat, the fiend is both one of the largest and intelligent in the Realm. Its sheer size is intimidating, and although its size makes it hard to miss, the fiend is exceptionally stealthy. Their fur blends well with their surroundings and so much more within the Fajun'niil Forest that the fiend can be almost perfectly camouflaged.   Valshiil are exceptionally intelligent. Most zoologists and demonologists agree that the fiend borders the Danun Line. Most fiends only understand basic survival instincts; the valshiil has evolved to possess much more complex cognitive abilities. Among many of these abilities is that the fiend has a much higher reasoning level than most fiends. Valshiil in captivity have also shown an understanding of higher levels of abstract thought and even complex language to a certain extent.

Valshiil Taming

Valshiil and devils have a long history of living side by side. Many would say that the fiend has been domesticated; however, this is untrue. Demonologists and zoologists have agreed that the valshiil cannot be domesticated, only tamed. However, when a valshiil is tamed, it behaves unlike most, if not all other fiends when it is.   Taming a valshiil is difficult but extremely rewarding. When they are tamed, usually via the beast challenging the devil (and never the other way around), it will form a deep bond with its master. The only thing the fiend requires once it is tamed is to allow it and its master to form a blood pact (something usually only done by demons, and in very rare cases, fiends bordering the Danun Line). Once a blood pact is formed, the valshiil will spend the rest of its life by its master's side.   Valshiil are extremely loyal fiends and will only remain as such to an individual. They will defend their master to the death, and are happy to assist in hunting. However, the beast is also very easy to anger. As large and as intimidating as they are, valshiil are quick to be offended. If they sense any danger to their master, the beast will not hesitate to leap into action. Taming a valshiil, although rewarding, is dangerous and is only left to the experts. Among the experts are the Noble Houses of the Zan'val.

Valshiil Riding

Zan'val kii Zul'pashnaniir has many wonders. Among them are those who ride the valshiil, most notably the Noble Houses of Pur'shov, Bi'vron, and Dantal'ion. Each of the houses is famous for their histories of riding into battle on valshiil. The house of Pur'shov, the most famous and well trained in valshiil riding, have even integrated the valshiil into their coat of arms. It's also not uncommon to find members of each house to have their own valshiil.   There are also plenty of others who have mastered the art of valshiil riding. In fact, before modern transportation and roads, it was somewhat common to travel the northwestern parts of the Zan'val. In modern days, although much rarer, valshiil riding is still well alive for those traveling within the Fajun'niil Forest or traversing the Rel'kajul Mountains.
