The Frostmarch Mountains
Geography
The northernmost region of Adrae is a long-stretching chain of tall, blue mountains. Although in a geographical sense it is one and the same, their significant features do divide the land in two: the highlands and the lowlands. The former is made up of bleak, rocky tundras and plateaus, while the other is of narrow valleys, labyrinthine canyons, and dangerously jagged shorelines.
Regardless of which one we are talking about, there is no other place on Progonos that is harder to traverse than this one. One careless step among the cliffs is enough for a life to be instantly forfeit, while in the lowlands time seemed to have stopped moving forward. The environment, along with all forms of life within is almost exactly as primal as it was back in the Mythic Age. It can be called anything but hospitable, which is even more indicated by the fact that this is the least populated part of Progonos.
Fauna & Flora
The valles of the north are dominated by dense, dark forests, opposed to the rocky highlands, where only shrubs, dry grasses, sedges and mosses can stay alive. The vegetation here tends to grow to unusual sizes and forms, at some areas one may only cut himself through the wilderness with an axe. Rumour has it that some of the plants prefer human flesh...
The animal kingdom of the Frostmarch Mountains is of a ferocious kind, even those that are known to be docile creatures, in general, are highly aggressive and fiercely territorial. Despite that the predators heavily outnumber the prey, every hunt is a fight to the death for them. Not to mention if there are human hunters involved. It is also notable that the Frostmarch Mountains concentrate the largest number of Beast kings in all of Progonos. Whole packs of them have been seen moving together, leaving utter devastation in their wake.
Natural Resources
The land offers rich, yet basic sources of wood, rock, livestock, game, seeds and berries, but the clans also deal greatly in slave-trading. Presumably, the mountains also hide many treasures, but the primitive natives lack the proper knowledge and technology to harvest whatever may be down there.
