Investiture of the Lineāls
Origins of War
Many young boys and girls of the Ealdén clans are told stories of great heroes who once united the clans in order to defeat a common enemy. These stories, however, lend themselves to ancient history when the manlings first arrived in Ealdé and fought the Lauma and one another to establish territory. Many shamans prefer not to tell the stories of the wars fought between the clans and the Lauma due to the inherent hatred that they teach. As it stands, the Lauma and manlings have an uneasy peace between them within their territories, and such stories would only create new conflict. During the early conflicts between the species, the most devout mailing warriors were awarded honors in the form of investitures from the united LineālsAn Honor Unmatched
An investiture is an incredibly rare honor to be gifted in the modern day. With the clans separated and isolated from one another, it is nearly an impossible task to receive the honor of not one, but multiple Lineāls at once. To receive and investiture is to be able to be a part of more than one clan, allowing the freedom to live between the clans or to lead them into battle much like the knights of the High Plains. The Honorable Few
Recipients of an investiture no longer use the name of their clan but rather use a title granted to them by Lineāls such as "the Brave" or "the Kind". There are only three living recipients of an investiture: Krivs the Fair who is known for assembling a feast between a Lauma tribe and his clan to talk over territory, Vidaija the Enlightened who introduced new methods of farming to four different tribes near the base of the Diemaja, and Jūris the Hero who spent days in the Ingrs fighting back the forces of the Andrytes to the south.Remove these ads.
